COLLIN LAWRENCEGrade Level Team Leader, 10th Grade Social Studies: Global StudiesMr. Lawrence is in his fifth year of teaching. He taught social studies classes for three years at Highland Park High School in St. Paul, Minnesota, and is in his second year of teaching at the Urban Assembly School of Music and Art in Brooklyn, New York. Mr. Lawrence has earned a B.A. from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, where he majored in American Studies and earned his teaching certification. He also earned a M.Ed. from the University of Minnesota, where he majored in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on secondary social studies. During the past few summers, Mr. Lawrence has worked as an administrator for an English-immersion summer school program in Hong Kong. Mr. Lawrence is an avid runner, and has experience coaching as well. He will be co-coach of the first UAMA track team this winter and spring. |

STACEY MAHER10th Grade Science
Stacey Maher recently began her first year teaching 10th grade Living Environments at UAMA and is excited to be back working in the borough where she grew up. Mrs.
Maher attended Abraham Lincoln H.S. as a member of the Institute for
Professions in Science program, taking additional math and science
courses as well as performing scientific research. She
then attended Stony Brook University as a member of their Women in
Science and Engineering (WISE) program, continuing her science
coursework and research, ultimately earning a B.S. in Psychology. While
attending college, she also provided service for Stony Brook Volunteer
Ambulance Corps as an Emergency Medical Technician (NYS-EMT). Upon
graduation, Mrs. Maher leveraged her knowledge in computers to work as
an IT professional for nearly seven years before opting to return to
her scientific roots as a New York City Teaching Fellow. She is looking forward to beginning coursework toward her Master’s degree at the start of 2008. In her free time, Mrs. Maher enjoys rock climbing, hiking, skiing as well as checking out the live music scene. |

THOMAS KEENAN10th Grade EnglishMr. Keenan is a first-year English teacher at UAMA. Having just graduated with a B.A. in English from Columbia University, Mr. Keenan comes to UAMA through the New York City Teaching Fellows program. He is taking continuing education courses at Brooklyn College. Originally from Buffalo, Mr. Keenan enjoys taking in the New York theater scene, both on- and off-Broadway. Last year he co-wrote two full-length productions for the Columbia stage. |

JUNNO LEE10th Grade MathIn his first year as a 10th grade math teacher, Mr. Lee hopes to excite and energize his students by revealing mathematical ideas buried in social justice issues and other real-world situations. Mr. Lee recently received an M.A. in secondary mathematics education from Bard College through the generous assistance of Math for America Newton Fellowship Program (www.mathforamerica.org) and he holds a B.A. in philosophy and a B.S. in applied mathematics from Columbia University. Before becoming a teacher, Mr. Lee owned and operated a restaurant in Manhattan for 8 years. He has also worked as a bartender, restaurant manager, art mover, and an editorial assistant at the New York Times where he learned not to believe everything he read in a newspaper. He spends his spare time writing poems, going to the movies and museums with his wife and playing peekaboo with his one-year old daughter. |
