OVERVIEW

UAMA is committed to hiring a staff that reflects the cultural and artistic diversity of our student body. UAMA’s faculty is united not only in its dedication to young people but in its dedication to creativity; many of UAMA’s teachers and administrators also pursue their own artistic work, and infuse this into their teaching and leadership practices.

For UAMA’s faculty as well as students, a strong sense of community is essential. UAMA’s teachers are organized into grade level teams, which meet weekly to discuss grade-wide policies, curriculum, and the progress of individual students. Team-teaching, peer observation, and the exchange of ideas and best practices is an integral component of UAMA culture. Teachers must also submit individual portfolios documenting their own work and students’ progress. This ensures consistency in quality of teaching, and documentation of best practices.
