What we saw…

In Ellis Island there was a lot of interesting things. Ellis Island showed me that the baggage’s that they had carried are a lot different from what we carry now. There was a good amount of little children that was working like big adults to help their parents.

The trip to liberty island was truly amazing I got to experience taking a picture and seeing an ancient statue that was over 100 years old. On Ellis island it was such an eye opening experience to walk on the same grounds that many immigrants have fought to stand on. It showed me that I need to be appreciative and grateful for everything I have today and we got to travel the same way that people many ages ago did. It was so amazing to see where apart of history took place.

The Statue of Liberty was built by a former civil war general Charles P. Stones. The statue skin is made of copper, the reason they picked copper is because when it’s exposed to oxygen in the air it undergoes a chemical reaction called oxidation.

The statue of liberty was built by France and was a gift to the United States. The statue was assembled on Bedloe’s Island on October 28 1886. In 1924 the Statue of Liberty was declared a National monument. In 1956 Bedloe’s was renamed Liberty Island.
